Equipment Malfunction Causes Major Power Outage in Blytheville, Arkansas
Blytheville, Ark. (KAIT) - A power outage affecting over 600 customers in the Blytheville area was not caused by winter weather, but by equipment failure, according to Entergy Arkansas CEO Laura Landreaux.
The CEO revealed that 620 people were without power on Saturday morning due to an unspecified equipment failure. However, she assured that a crew was dispatched to address the issue and that electricity would be restored soon.
Landreaux expressed concern about the potential impact of freezing rain, which can weigh down power lines and tree limbs, causing them to fall. She noted that while sleet can make roads treacherous, it is better for power lines.
Entergy Arkansas has approximately 3,500 employees ready to respond to outages across the state. In addition to personnel, they have the necessary equipment, including poles, wires, and transformers, to restore power quickly.
