In a Sunday update, incident controller David Moore confirmed that the river had reached 13.71 meters by 1:45 pm, with the major flood level of 14 meters expected on Monday and persisting through Tuesday. While Moore assured that the damage so far has been minimal, with only three homes experiencing minor water damage in the northern part of Daly River, the situation remains tense.
And this is the part most people miss: Moore emphasized that the current flood levels, though alarming, are far from the devastating 2018 flood, which saw water levels exceed 16 to 17 meters, causing widespread destruction.
