AMD Radeon RX 9070 Finally Makes Its Mark in Steam's Hardware Survey

AMD's Radeon RX 9070 has finally made its debut in Steam's Hardware Survey, marking a significant milestone for the RDNA 4 GPU architecture. After nearly a year of anticipation, the RX 9070 now holds a 0.22% share, becoming the first RX 9000 series GPU to appear in the monthly chart.
The RX 9070 joins a list of legacy graphics cards with lower market shares, such as Intel HD Graphics 4600 and AMD's RX 5500 XT. However, it's worth noting that Steam's survey doesn't yet list the RX 9070 XT or any RX 9060 models.
In contrast, NVIDIA's RTX 5070 leads the pack with a 3.05% share for December 2025, followed by other RTX 50-series cards like the RTX 5060, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5080, and RTX 5090, all of which have higher market shares than the RX 9070.
Despite the RX 9070's arrival, older mainstream GPUs still dominate the top spots. The RTX 3060 holds a 6.53% share, followed by the RTX 4060 Laptop GPU (5.85%) and RTX 4060 (5.84%). The RTX 3050 and GTX 1650 complete the top five, showcasing the enduring popularity of these older graphics cards.
Interestingly, the survey also includes two broad Radeon labels: 'AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics' and 'AMD Radeon Graphics'. These labels can represent various iGPU and dGPU models, as the survey relies on user participation and aggregated data. This includes AMD-powered gaming handhelds, such as the Steam Deck.
The inclusion of the RX 9070 in the Steam Hardware Survey is a significant development, offering a glimpse into the market reception of AMD's latest GPU architecture.
